The nuances of winter tree pruning
If a number of conditions are met, it is possible to tidy up the tree crowns not only in autumn or spring.
1. Feel free to start pruning if the average daily air temperature remains within 5 degrees below zero, no more.
2. It is important to prune in dry weather. Despite the low risk of infection with various diseases, due to high humidity the tree may begin to rot.
3. In addition, after pruning, there should be no sudden temperature changes for several days.
What can be cut
If the above conditions are met, you can tidy up the crown of an apple, pear or plum tree.
At the same time, diseased and dry shoots are cut out, as well as branches that grow inside the crown.
Due to the absence of leaves, pruning will be as effective as possible, and in the spring this time can be devoted to other work in the garden and on the beds.
