Experienced gardeners, vegetable growers and summer residents do not throw away old pillows.

It turns out that they can be very useful in growing plants. For example, as a fertilizer.

In this regard, feather filling is of particular value – it is the source of organic matter for representatives of the garden flora.

The method is even more effective if the feathers from the pillow are part of nitrogen compounds.

In this case, the plants grow their plant mass much better.

If the feathers contain components containing sulfur, the harvest will be of higher quality.

And if they contain silicon compounds, the strength of the grown crops is guaranteed.

In addition to enriching the soil with nutrients, feather fertilizer provides conditions for the formation of the most optimal soil structure.

As it decomposes, the feather mass creates a favorable environment for the reproduction of beneficial microorganisms, which has a very positive effect on the fertility of the soil.

According to experienced gardeners, the most effective method is when crushed feathers mixed with wood ash are added to the holes when planting vegetables.

It is recommended to add about 100 grams of feather mass per 1 square meter.

Feathers can also be used to make liquid fertilizer.

Three glasses of crushed material should be infused in a container with water (10 liters) for 10 days in a warm place.

Afterwards, the solution can be used for root feeding of plants.
