Coffee can prevent atherosclerosis and vascular occlusion.
This was stated by Russian cardiologist Iosif Shubitidze.
The expert's statement is quoted by the publication Gazeta.Ru .

How Coffee Protects Blood Vessels from Clogging
Traditionally, patients with heart and vascular diseases are not advised to drink coffee, as it increases blood pressure.
However, coffee is useful for preventing such diseases. As Shubitidze explained, coffee improves the functioning of the endothelium - the inner layer of arterial cells.
Thus, the drink prevents atherosclerosis and vascular occlusion.
Coffee also increases the sensitivity of cells to insulin, reducing the risk of developing diabetes.
And diabetes, the cardiologist noted, is a serious risk factor for heart and vascular disease.
In addition, coffee contains B vitamins, magnesium and potassium, which normalize heart rhythm.
Caffeine prevents the growth of connective tissue, which also reduces the risk of arrhythmia, the specialist added.
According to him, one can consume no more than 200 milligrams of caffeine at a time, 300-500 milligrams per day.
The average cup of coffee contains about 100 milligrams of caffeine.
