And then you wonder why your child screams "I hate you!" and slams the door. The secret is that children don't need a friend - they need a parent.
Boundaries, rules, and even boring chores give them a sense of security. When you're afraid of being "bad," your child loses their bearings and starts testing how far they can go.
But how do you establish authority without tyranny? First, be consistent. If today you can't have candy before dinner, and tomorrow you can, the child stops understanding what is right.
Secondly, don't substitute attention with gifts. It's better to spend an hour playing a board game than to buy a new tablet. And never criticize the person - only the actions. Not "You're a slob!" but "Scattered socks upset me."
Another mistake is "parenting without failures." Do you run to school to take a forgotten textbook, or do the project for your child? This way, he will not learn to be responsible for his mistakes.
Let him get a bad grade - it's the best reminder for the future. And don't be afraid to apologize if you're wrong. Children copy behavior: if you admit your mistakes, they will learn to do so too.
