More and more often, coffee shops offer not the traditional “Americano”, but the mysterious and unknown to many “long black”.
Meanwhile, it is this coffee that has won the hearts of many lovers of this invigorating drink in some countries.
Experts predict that it will become the leader among all types of coffee, and they say that it may surpass Americano in popularity.

And today, “long black” is most in demand in Australia and New Zealand.
What kind of coffee is this?
"Long black" (from English - "long black") is coffee that is prepared by adding a double portion of "espresso" to hot water.
This is the exact order of actions. Due to this, a dense film is preserved, which allows you to focus on the bright taste of the drink.
In an Americano, by comparison, hot water is poured, as is traditional, over the espresso.
But in this case the taste suffers – it is simply “diluted”, destroying the film.
But “long black” retains the drink’s inherent richness, aroma and unique taste.
Another difference: it has a smaller volume than Americano, and this, again, is reflected in the taste, which is more concentrated in long black.
Londoners opt for 'long black'
Long Black is popular not only in the countries mentioned above. For example, it is loved in London.
According to local coffee shops, there has been a rapid increase in demand for this particular coffee recently.
So, two years ago it took 5th place in the ranking of the most frequent coffee orders in the British capital.
Of the total sales, the "long black" accounted for nine percent.
