Unfortunately, when defrosting chicken, many people often make mistakes that can have dire consequences, including poisoning.

The lion's share of such mistakes are caused by haste. For example, when it's time to cook dinner, and you forgot to defrost the meat.

But a much more dangerous mistake is when they start refreezing the chicken.

This cannot be done. Otherwise, bacteria will start to multiply in the product, and this is fraught with poisoning.

How to defrost

Another common mistake is to simply leave the meat on a plate at room temperature to defrost.

And in this case, as explained by the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova , there is a health risk.

At room temperature, bacteria can also begin to multiply in meat.

According to the expert, chicken should be defrosted as slowly as possible - this will preserve the quality and taste of the meat.

Fridge

The simplest and most correct action is to take the meat out of the freezer and put it in the refrigerator.

The only thing you need to take care of is to place the product on a plate in such a way that water or juice from it does not spill onto other products in the refrigerator.

If a person eats any product with water from defrosting meat on it, he risks developing stomach problems.

Cold water

Many people are used to defrosting meat in water. In this case, you should not use hot water.

The latter promotes the growth of bacteria, which will give the meat an unpleasant smell.

Therefore, it is recommended to fill the container with cold water, pack the meat in a bag (so that no water gets on it) and place this bag in the container.

The water needs to be changed every hour, although the bag of meat can simply be placed under running water.

Using this method, it will take about two hours to defrost half a kilo of meat.

Oven or microwave

You can also defrost the product in the oven or microwave, provided that the appliance has a defrosting option.

If the mentioned function is available, it is enough to put the meat in a dish suitable for the microwave or oven, place it there and start the desired mode.

With this defrosting option, there is practically no need to additionally monitor the process.

It is important not to overheat. But if this happens, you should cook the meat immediately after freezing to avoid the influence of bacteria.
