If you don’t want to spend money on store-bought shawarma, try making it yourself.
It will not only be cheaper, but also tastier, says Yulia Arkhipova, an expert at the online publication BelNovosti, who shared secrets on how to make shawarma more appetizing.
Meat
Instead of "traditional chicken", add tender beef, lamb or even seafood to the shawarma filling. Be sure to marinate the meat with spices beforehand - cumin, coriander or paprika will do.

Sauces
Don't be afraid to swap out classic shawarma sauces for something new, like garlic or hot sauce, tahini, dill yogurt sauce, or even avocado.
By the way, to enhance the taste, you can add spices such as turmeric, cumin or hot pepper to the sauce.
Vegetables
To make the shawarma more textured and, of course, delicious, put fresh or baked vegetables inside. Tomatoes, Chinese cabbage and cucumbers go well with fried eggplant, sweet peppers or pickled radishes. Korean carrots and pickled gherkins are ideal.
Green
Dill, cilantro, parsley, mint or even basil will add a bright taste and aroma, so be sure to stock up on them before you start preparing homemade shawarma.
Cheeses
A filling with added feta, feta or mozzarella will make the shawarma tender and tasty – we bet you haven’t tried anything like this yet.
Nuts and seeds
Sometimes cooks sprinkle shawarma with sesame or chopped nuts. They say it tastes even better.
Pita
Try baking the lavash in a frying pan with olive oil – this will make your shawarma very crispy.
