When selecting a skirting board, you should follow several rules.

According to the expert of the online publication Belnovosti, designer Yulia Tychino , one should avoid matching the baseboard to the color and texture of the floor.

Despite the fact that when buying laminate or engineered board from many manufacturers you can find a skirting board identical to the floor, you should not look for easy ways.

The reason is simple – in this case you will get the effect as if the floor is “wrapped” onto the walls.

The next important aspect is that the skirting board should be matched either to the walls, which is logical, because the skirting board is part of the wall, or to the color scheme in which the interior is designed.

The exception is floor tiles with an ornament – a suitable color for the baseboard can be taken from there.

According to experts, the safest color for a baseboard is white.

It looks harmonious, even if not with the doors, then most likely with the ceiling cornices, with the ceiling, with the passe-partout for paintings, the window frame and the window slopes.

To get a truly win-win combination, doors should also be chosen in white, and an even more effective visual can be created by selecting a baseboard in one of the accent colors of the color palette.

You can visually lengthen the verticals and draw attention away from the baseboard if you use a baseboard in the color of the walls (hidden baseboard). Such an interior looks strict and minimalistic.

If your rooms are decorated in neutral colors, give preference to similar baseboards in gray, gray-beige or gray-brown shades.
