Even if you are lucky enough to own an apartment with impressively sized rooms, a few wrong moves will result in your spacious home looking like a cramped closet.
Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino, spoke about mistakes that make an apartment appear smaller.
1. Dark walls
A dark palette is only acceptable for large apartments with good lighting (both daylight and artificial).
If you can’t overcome your love for dark colors, use contrasting details in the interior as accents – for example, dark lamps or a sofa.
2. Furniture along the walls
Furniture placed along the walls may be a convenient option, but in this case you should be prepared for the fact that such a solution will narrow the room.
Try to leave some space between the furniture and the walls – this will create the illusion of open space.
3. Overloaded walls
Contrary to popular belief, which is that in a small visit the walls should be empty, you should not refuse wall decor, but everything should be within reasonable limits.
To make the interior more complete and harmonious, hang a few posters above the sofa. Shelves with small trinkets and mirrors are also suitable for decorating the room.
