Those who lived through the 90s remember how, when selling an apartment, the presence of repairs was always indicated as a separate item.
Often, the high cost of housing on the secondary market was explained by the presence of "Euro-style renovation". But even now, not everything is so simple.
Yulia Tychino, an expert of the online publication BelNovosti in the field of design and interior, told in which cases renovation can increase the cost of an apartment, and in which cases it can do the opposite.

Prices are up
With the help of renovation, you can increase the cost per square meter by up to 15%.
But for this it is necessary to take into account a number of conditions:
- repair work must be carried out with high quality;
- the same applies to building and finishing materials;
- Thoughtful planning and redevelopment makes a huge contribution to this matter;
- but the most important thing is that all architectural changes must be legalized.
Nuances
It happens that the buyer is not interested in renovation and rough preparation is enough for him.
In this case, it is recommended to carry out neutral repairs so that the apartment is as comfortable as possible for living at first.
If you set some style, don’t expect the buyer to appreciate it.
But any uncoordinated changes reduce the cost of housing, regardless of how well the work was done.
Perhaps the new residents will have to not only legalize the renovation, but also eliminate the violations.
