Imagine: you've invested a ton of money in renovations, bought trendy furniture, hung up paintings, and your guests still look at the interior with bewilderment. What's the matter?
It turns out that even small design mistakes can turn a cozy nest into an absurd parody of a magazine picture.
For example, too large furniture in a small room.
A giant sofa or a wall-sized wardrobe visually “eats up” the space, making the room feel cramped.
Or the opposite situation: a tiny table in the middle of a spacious living room looks like an accidentally forgotten stool.
Another problem is the chaotic combination of colors. Bright pillows, a colorful carpet, patterned wallpaper and multi-colored curtains create the feeling of a circus arena.
Designers advise to stick to the rule of three colors: one main, two additional. But many forget about this, trying to "revive" the interior with all the shades of the rainbow.
Or, on the contrary, they make the room faceless, like a hospital ward, using only white and gray.
Find a balance: add a couple of accent pieces (a vase, a painting, a blanket), but don’t turn your home into a museum of abstract art.
Here's the "deadly sin" that almost everyone commits: improper lighting.
A chandelier in the middle of the ceiling and a couple of floor lamps - that's not enough! The light should be multi-level: overhead, spotlights, sconces, lighting in niches.
Playing with lighting can hide the room's flaws and highlight its advantages. But no, we stubbornly hang one chandelier and wonder why the room seems flat and boring.
