As a rule, the furniture in the hallway is simple and functional, and a large surface of the walls is visible.

To make the hallway seem more spacious, apartment owners make the walls light, but, according to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino, this effect can be achieved in other ways.

We are talking about finishing – in the hallway you can safely experiment with colors and finishing materials, which cannot be said about living rooms.

So what materials are at the top of the list among interior design experts?

Wallpaper, frescoes, wood paneling and false brickwork have long been at the top of the list and are not going to give up their positions.

But there are other options that deserve your attention - they can ennoble the walls of the hallway no less.

Liquid wallpaper

Liquid wallpaper can be smooth or have a fleecy surface. Some of them have a fabric texture, while others “repeat” bark or skin.

In addition to their high decorative value, they have another important quality: the ability to absorb sound.

Paints (textured or textured)

They can be called a further development of the idea of liquid wallpaper with an improved composition.

The two most elegant types of coatings are "Marseille wax" and "Mizuri". After drying, the paint forms a smooth, soft and delicately iridescent film.

The Marseille wax technique involves adding wax to paint, which gives the surface light and rich shades. Adding colored and shiny particles makes the texture more expressive, deep and interesting.

Facing materials

If we are talking about tiles, then preference should be given to matte options. Imitation of cobblestone and flagstone will look appropriate at a height of up to one meter from the floor, otherwise it will create the impression of a fake castle.

Natural marble and granite

Both of these materials are great for finishing walls in the hallway. Their close analogue is Venetian plaster. It repeats the pattern of any natural stone, but looks lighter and more elegant.
