The end of the obesity era may be coming. The threat that many lovers of high-calorie food face may disappear completely.
This means that the time is on the horizon when you can eat whatever your heart desires, without restrictions, without fear of gaining extra weight.
This miracle is made possible by a unique vaccine created by scientists from the University of Colorado.
The drug provides the body with an additional “option” – blocking the accumulation of excess kilos.
The vaccine does not work in the same way as the currently fashionable weight loss injections, which provide a longer feeling of satiety, thereby preventing overeating.
The special feature is that a weekly injection prevents inflammation, which is “responsible” for uncontrolled weight gain.
Scientists conducted experiments on mice, injecting them with Mycobacterium vaccae – beneficial bacteria that “live” in soil and cow’s milk.
During the experiment, it was discovered that after weekly injections, the rodents became virtually immune to weight gain.
This is despite the fact that they were fed foods rich in sugar and fat.
The researchers said their work showed the vaccine was "effective in preventing excessive weight gain associated with a Western diet."
They believe the bacteria behind the drug helps reduce inflammation caused by consuming "inflammatory" foods.
They included meat, refined grains and sweet drinks among these.
By the way. Scientists plan to conduct the next vaccine tests on humans.
