Do you drink tea before bed to relax?
Nutritionist Kate Holden , author of the bestselling book The Night Metabolism, warns: “Brewing tea incorrectly can slow down fat burning by 40%.”
The first mistake is adding honey.

A study in Nutrition Journal has proven that even a teaspoon of honey in the evening increases insulin levels, blocking nighttime ketosis. Participants who replaced honey with stevia lost 300 g more per week.
The second trap is mint.
An experiment conducted at the University of Leeds found that menthol activates hunger receptors, causing you to eat 200 more calories.
The third danger is tea bags.
Professor Jonathan Brooks told the BBC: "Plastic bags released microplastics when heated above 85°C, which disrupt the satiety hormone leptin."
User Nikita from Kyiv wrote on the Reddit forum: “I switched to loose leaf tea without additives – I lost 5 kg in a month, although I didn’t change my diet.”
Nutritionists advise drinking tea 3 hours before bed and choosing caffeine-free varieties: rooibos, ginger or chamomile.
For example, chef Jamie Oliver recommends a mixture of chamomile and cinnamon on his blog – it has a calming effect and speeds up metabolism.
Remember: even harmless rituals can cost you your slim figure if you ignore the details.
