Hedge in a Month: Strange Banana Method

22.02.2025 19:26

Banana peels are a real “fuel” for plants, including those used to create hedges.

This waste product contains a large amount of potassium, phosphorus and magnesium, which makes it an effective fertilizer for thujas and boxwoods.

If you want to help the plants, just bury 2-3 skins at their roots.

Banana peels can be used to make an infusion.

3 skins per 3 liters of water are infused for a week, then the resulting product is used when it becomes necessary to water the seedlings.

Particularly advanced plant growers add onion peel to the already effective infusion.

The quercetin in its composition increases resistance to frost.

There is another option for preparing fertilizer based on banana peels. In order to become the owner of valuable fertilizer, grind the peel, pour warm water, add 1 tbsp. honey for fermentation.

All that's left is to wait. After 5 days, dilute the infusion with water in a ratio of 1:10 and water the plants.

Alternate banana fertilizers with yeast fertilizers (10 g per 5 l of water). This will increase the microbial activity of the soil.

A gardener from Siberia grew a thuja hedge in 4 months by burying the peel and watering with whey (1 glass per bush).

To protect conifers from fungus and accelerate the growth of lateral shoots, he sprayed the needles with an iodine solution (5 drops per 10 l).

Important: If bananas are rotten, do not try to dispose of them this way. The ethanol in them will kill the roots.
