Crooked, hairy or bitter carrots are the result of mistakes made by 90% of gardeners.
This can be corrected without mineral fertilizers if you know an old grandmother’s secret.
All you need is rye flour. It contains amino acids and enzymes that turn the soil into a "buffet" for root crops. But it should not be used as a regular fertilizer, but in a special way.

Two weeks before sowing carrots, scatter rye flour over the bed (100 g per 1 m²) and rake it in to a depth of 5-7 cm.
During the decomposition process, flour releases substances that loosen the soil, making it airy. This allows carrots to grow evenly, without curvature.
When the shoots appear, water them with water with the addition of fermented rye bread: pour 200 g of crusts with 3 liters of water, let it sit for 3 days, strain and dilute 1:5.
This type of fertilizer saturates the soil with B vitamins, which are responsible for sugar content.
The secret is that rye contains a rare element - rubidium. It enhances cellular metabolism, helping root crops accumulate sugar even during drought.
To protect against carrot flies, sprinkle the bed with ground red pepper after watering - its smell interrupts the aroma of carrots, confusing the pests.
If the soil is too dense, add sand to the flour (1:1) - this will prevent the appearance of "hairy" root crops.
But there is an important rule: never add fresh manure. It causes carrots to branch, and excess nitrogen makes them tough.
Instead, use nettle infusion with yeast: it will provide the necessary nutrition without harming the shape of the root crops.
