If you have acquired a pot of geraniums, this does not mean that you will be able to show off bright and fragrant caps of flowers to your neighbors.

If you want the plant to delight you with beautiful inflorescences and an unforgettable aroma, you will have to create favorable conditions for it.

First of all, you need to take care of feeding the flower.

Which fertilizer should you choose from the many that exist?

Experienced gardeners recommend using iodine.

The reason is that as a result of its use, the roots begin to grow faster, which means that the geranium will begin to absorb nutrients from the soil with double force.

But that's not all: iodine is known to be an antiseptic. Accordingly, plant roots will receive reliable protection from rot and diseases.

The solution is prepared from 1 liter of settled water and 1 drop of iodine. The resulting product should be at room temperature.

A day before applying iodine-based fertilizer, it is recommended to moisten and loosen the soil in the pot with geranium.

One plant requires 3-7 tablespoons of iodine solution.

Please note: it is not only what you water your geranium with that matters, but also how you do it. Try to water the roots as well, so that moisture does not get on the leaves.

And, of course, you shouldn’t think that iodine alone is enough: during the period of active growth of geranium, add universal mineral supplements for flowering plants to the soil to satisfy the “appetite” of the flower.
