How to feed peonies so they bloom like in a fairy tale: a secret from grandma's notebook

The lush, breathtaking caps of peonies are not an accident, but the result of proper feeding.

Modern fertilizers can produce lush greenery, but the flowers will remain small.

Grandma's recipes, on the contrary, make the bushes bloom so much that the neighbors will look over the fence.

And the main secret is not chemistry, but something that is in every kitchen.

The first rule: peonies do not like fresh organic matter. Manure or bird droppings cause the growth of leaves to the detriment of buds.

Instead, use rye bread. Soak half a loaf in 10 liters of water for a day, mash it into a paste and water the bush in early spring, as soon as the sprouts appear.

Yeast from bread activates soil bacteria, which convert nutrients into a form accessible to peonies.

The second stage is feeding during budding. Dissolve 100 g of wood ash in 3 liters of boiling water, cool and spray the leaves.

Ash contains potassium and phosphorus, which strengthen flower stalks and enhance the brightness of petals.

The third secret is bone meal. Bury 2-3 handfuls in the ground around the bush in the fall.

By spring, the flour will decompose, saturating the soil with calcium and phosphorus. This will make the flowers larger and prolong their flowering.

An unexpected life hack: a month before flowering, water the peonies with… whey. Dilute 1 liter of whey in 5 liters of water, add 10 drops of iodine. Lactic acid bacteria will protect against fungus, and iodine will strengthen the stems.

After flowering, do not forget to feed the peonies with an infusion of banana peel - this will restore the strength of the bush.
