Not everyone knows that even small onion sets can produce a record harvest if you create the right conditions for them.
Experts shared simple but effective techniques that will turn your garden beds into a source of large, juicy bulbs.
Preparation is the key to success
Before planting, the onions are soaked for three hours in a salt solution (1 tablespoon per liter of water), and then immersed in a dark pink solution of potassium permanganate for 30 minutes.

After this, it is washed and planted. This approach disinfects the planting material and stimulates rapid rooting.
The secret to juiciness is in the yeast
Two weeks after planting, the beds are watered with a yeast solution: 100 g of yeast is diluted in 10-12 liters of water and left for an hour.
First, the soil is moistened with regular water, then fertilizer is added, and after two hours, it is watered again. The procedure is repeated after 24 hours. Yeast saturates the soil with nitrogen, accelerating the growth of bulbs.
How to repel pests and preserve the harvest
When the first leaf appears, the bed is treated with a solution of ammonia (2 tbsp. per 10 l of water), using 3 buckets per 6 m².
After two weeks, instead of ammonia, use a saline solution (1 tbsp. per liter), and after another 10 days, use strong potassium permanganate.
After harvesting, the onions are dried directly in the garden bed under the sun - this increases shelf life.
Following these steps does not require much effort, but guarantees results. Already this season, the bulbs will please with their size, and their quantity will make you think about expanding the cellar.
