How to Turn Coffee Grounds into Elite Rose Fertilizer: You'll Be Surprised

Coffee grounds are not trash at all. This mass is gold for your roses.

After reading this, you are unlikely to look at it the same way again, because just a teaspoon of this “waste” can replace expensive mineral fertilizers.

The reason is its unique composition: nitrogen, potassium, magnesium and antioxidants, which act as a growth stimulator and protection against diseases.

But to prevent the grounds from causing harm, they need to be prepared. Fresh coffee grounds have high acidity, which is dangerous for roses. Rinse them with water to remove any remaining caffeine, and dry them.

Then mix it with the soil at the roots (1 tablespoon per bush) or sprinkle it in a thin layer around the stem - this will improve the soil structure, attract earthworms and prevent the appearance of aphids.

In just a month, the roses will produce more buds, and their color will become richer.

Another life hack: pour warm water over the grounds (100 g per 3 liters), let it sit for a day and spray the leaves.

This is not only a top dressing, but also a preventative measure against powdery mildew. A thin coffee film on the leaves has a negative effect on fungi, and the smell repels beetles.

The main thing is not to use such a solution more than once a month, so as not to disturb the pH of the soil.

Why does it work better than commercial fertilizers? Coffee contains slow carbohydrates that are released gradually, providing the roses with nutrition for the entire season.

To enhance the effect, add crushed eggshells to the mixture - the calcium will strengthen the stems.

By the way, this method is also suitable for hydrangeas, but you don’t need to wash the grounds for them – the acid will turn the flowers blue.
