How to Uproot a Deep-Rooted Bush Without a Shovel: The Siberian Lumberjack Method

Lilac, raspberry or rosehip bushes can ruin a plot for years, producing new shoots.

Siberian loggers use a method that turns roots into dust within a month.

Drill 10-15 holes of 1 cm diameter in the stump, fill them with coarse salt and pour in 9% vinegar. Cover with black film - without light and air the roots will rot.

A study in Agricultural Sciences explains that salt blocks water from getting in and vinegar breaks down the lignin in the wood.

Summer resident Svetlana from Omsk said: “I used this method to get rid of an old lilac that had been giving me no peace for 5 years!”

An alternative for eco-lovers: plant pumpkins or squash around the stump.

Their roots secrete enzymes that decompose wood.

Biologists explain: "Destructor plants work more slowly, but are safer for the soil. In one season, the stump will turn into dust."

If you need to remove a bush urgently, dig around it and pour boiling water with salt on the roots (1 kg per 10 l). The method is radical, but effective.

The main thing is not to use chemical herbicides: they pollute the soil and harm earthworms.

Modern tools: the Gnome root puller with a lever mechanism pulls out roots up to 1 meter deep.

For large bushes, rent a mini excavator - it will do the job in an hour.

Warning: Do not burn the roots on the site - the smoke contains toxins. Take them to a landfill or bury them in the forest.
