Most summer residents rarely visit their plots in winter for business or to carry out some work.
However, this does not mean that there is nothing to do in the garden at this time of year. Few people know that at this time you can do grafting.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" - a scientist, agronomist and landscape designer, told whether it is possible to graft trees in winter.

It turns out that pruning is not the only recommended measure during winter cold.
Fruit trees that are dormant tolerate any intervention less painfully.
Therefore, the chances of success increase significantly and the tree blooms already in the second year after the procedure.
However, gardeners recommend plucking the flowers because early fruiting can weaken the tree and impair its growth and development.
General recommendations
1. It is desirable that the wild plant and the mother tree grow close together.
2. It is important that the mother tree is completely healthy.
3. Cuttings are harvested after the first frosts and only from that part of the tree that is well lit by the sun.
4. The cutting should be straight, moderately dense, not elongated, with at least 3 buds.
5. Store cuttings in the refrigerator or basement before grafting.
How to graft
A suitable tree is dug up in the fall and stored in the basement.
The vaccination is done in February, after the thaw sets in.
In spring, grafted seedlings are planted in open ground.
