It seems like you are doing everything right: watering, weeding, fertilizing.

But the harvest is disappointing again, and the plants look wilted. What's the catch?

You may be making common mistakes that you don't even realize.

For example, too much watering. Many people are sure that the more water, the better, but the roots of plants suffocate without access to oxygen, and excess moisture provokes fungus.

Check the soil with your finger: if it is damp at a depth of 2-3 cm, put the watering can aside.

Another common problem is planting crops too close together.

Tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers compete for light and nutrients, and crowded conditions create ideal conditions for disease.

Did you know that loosening the soil after rain can be harmful?

Wet soil will compact even more if you dig it up with a hoe. It's best to wait until the soil dries out a little.

Or that fertilizing with fresh manure burns the roots? It needs to be composted for at least a year.

What about pruning shrubs in the middle of summer?

Open wounds on branches attract pests, so prune plants in early spring or fall.

And don’t rush to throw away fallen leaves – they will make excellent mulch if you chop them up and spread them under the bushes.

These seem like small things, but they are the ones that determine whether your garden will thrive or barely survive.
