Urgently in the holes! What to add when planting potatoes for a record harvest

Have you been digging holes for potatoes for years, but still haven't gotten a harvest that will leave your neighbors speechless?

That's because you're missing one secret ingredient. It's not sold in gardening stores, but it's in every home.

We are talking about... onion peel! It contains substances that repel wireworms, accelerate the growth of tubers and make them incredibly large.

But for the husk to work, it must be placed not in the compost, but directly into the hole.

Before planting potatoes, pour a handful of dry onion peel into each hole.

It will not only protect the tubers from pests, but also saturate the soil with quercetin, a natural growth stimulant. This flavonoid strengthens the plant's immunity, helping it survive drought and temperature changes.

Additionally, mix the husk with a teaspoon of dry mustard: its essential oils will drive away the Colorado potato beetle, and the nitrogen in the composition will nourish the roots.

In just a month, the bushes will be a third taller than usual, and giant tubers will begin to form underground.

But that's not all. For maximum effect, add a pinch of starch to the hole. Yes, regular potato starch! It will start the fermentation process, turning the soil into a nutritious substrate.

The starch is mixed with soil in a ratio of 1:4, otherwise it will stick together and block the access of oxygen.

Two weeks after planting, water the beds with water and iodine (3 drops per bucket) - this will enhance the effect of the onion peel.

The main thing is not to use fresh manure. It causes scab, and in combination with onions it can provoke rotting of tubers.

Why hasn't the method become popular? Many are afraid that the husk will attract ants. In fact, the opposite happens: the smell of onions disorients the insects, forcing them to avoid the beds.

To be on the safe side, you can add dried orange peels to the holes - their essential oils enhance protection.
