What old newspapers can be useful for at your dacha: this is your main ally in the fight for the harvest

Experienced summer residents have long since stopped throwing old newspapers in the trash - instead, paper turns into a powerful weapon against insects.

A simple way to protect plants does not require money or complicated preparations, but works without fail.

Paper barrier for aphids and mites

Newspaper strips soaked in clove essential oil repel aphids and mites. Just wrap them around the trunks of bushes or lay them at the roots - the pungent aroma will make the pests look for another "dining room".

This method is especially useful for currants, roses and young fruit trees.

How to save garden beds from moths and flies

Carrot flies and cabbage moths avoid the smell of mint. If you soak newspapers in mint oil and place them between the rows of plantings, the insects will fly around the beds.

Bonus: the scent of mint is not liked by ants, which often carry aphids around the area.

Paper Slug Trap

Slugs crawl out at night, but they don't like rough surfaces. If you spread newspapers soaked in tea tree or lavender oil near the plants, the pests won't risk crossing the "prickly" barrier.

In the morning, all that remains is to collect them from the darkened areas where they will crawl in search of shelter.

The secret to success is the combination of a physical barrier and natural aromas. Old newspapers not only protect, but also gradually decompose, becoming part of the compost.

This approach saves time, preserves the environment and turns routine pest control into a creative process.
