Can cats understand human speech?
Researchers have found that cats have the ability to remember approximately 100 words spoken by humans.
And the fluffy ones also understand when their owner calls them by name.
Animals even associate some words with individual objects, but they are best at distinguishing intonation.
Cats can tell their owner's mood by the tone of their voice. They will act accordingly, such as stopping what their owner is doing or coming to be petted.
How Cats Communicate with People
To communicate, these animals resort to a variety of sounds - purring, hissing, meowing, and also actively use body language, moving their ears, showing their claws, biting, scratching, etc.
