You find your cat in the washing machine, in the laundry drawer, or even in the microwave (yes, it happens!).
This isn't just a quirk - it's your pet's cry for help. Cats seek out tight, enclosed spaces when they feel stressed.
Perhaps a new person has moved into the house, you have rearranged the furniture, or an aggressive crow has taken up residence outside the window. But how can you tell what exactly is wrong?

Observe the routes. If the cat hides under the bathtub after your quarrels, it is afraid of loud sounds. If it climbs into the closet when guests come, it does not like other people's smells.
Create a "shelter" yourself: put a cardboard box with soft bedding in a quiet corner. Add catnip there - it will calm the nerves. And also - buy a pheromone diffuser.
It secretes substances that kittens remember from their time with their mother. In a couple of days, the pet will forget about the sink and move to its "house of peace". And yes, check if that same crow is standing outside the window...
But sometimes cats sleep in sinks simply because they like the coolness. In the summer, tiles or metal help cool down. Put a gel-filled bed in the shade - perhaps the cat will switch to it.
Another reason is smells. If you cleaned the sink with a strong detergent, the cat may be attracted to a new aroma. Use neutral cleaning agents so as not to provoke curiosity.
And if your pet has taken a liking to the washing machine, be careful! Before turning it on, check if the cat is sleeping there. The same goes for ovens, drawers, and suitcases. A love for cozy places can become dangerous, so create safe alternatives.
And remember: sometimes cats hide because they are sick. If your pet has become apathetic, refuses to eat, and constantly sits in a shelter, show it to the vet. Stress is not the only reason for strange behavior.
