These dogs are adored on social media for their “cute” faces, but their history is written in blood.

From Norway to Australia, laws against them are being tightened and owners are being fined.

Who are they - pets who have become a nightmare for society?

In first place are pit bulls, which are banned in a number of countries, including the UK.

The reason? Statistics: 65% of fatal attacks in the United States involve this breed.

But the problem is not in genes, but in the myth of the "nanny for children". In the 90s, they were advertised as family dogs, which attracted inexperienced owners. The result is thousands of crippled people and lifelong stereotypes.

The list of banned dogs includes the Tosa Inu, a breed used for dog fighting that is legal in Japan until 2023. They are bred for their endurance and pain threshold.

In Norway and Denmark, Tosa Inu are banned: cases of attacks on police dogs have shown that they do not stop even under fire.

Snow-white Argentine Dogos are the result of selective breeding for hunting pumas. But in cities, their prey is runners and cyclists.

Next on the list is the Bandog, a mastiff-pit bull hybrid bred to guard prisons. They were trained to attack when the word "run" was given.

In some countries, breeding them is considered a criminal offense: there is a case where a Bandog attacked people after jumping over a 3-meter-high fence.

The list ends with malamutes, who seem like fluffy good-natured creatures, but their pack instinct makes them dangerous. There have been cases of malamute packs mauling deer and attacking tourists.
