In the future, your pet will develop trust issues, which means that it will be much more difficult to cope with its upbringing and training.
What to do instead
The best way is to prevent such situations. To do this, you should carefully observe the dog's behavior and promptly direct it to the right place when you notice that it is about to relieve itself.
Be sure to praise your pet when he does all his business outside or in a designated place.
Positive reinforcement works much more effectively than punishment.
It is also important to promptly and thoroughly clean up the places where the “crime” was committed.
Treat soiled areas with special cleaning products that are suitable for pets if you do not want your dog's keen sense of smell to lead him to a place he has previously marked.
