Express method for the lazy

The dishwasher will handle fresh rust caused by moisture. Load the pan on an intensive cycle 2-3 times in a row.

Important: this method is only suitable for shallow corrosion. Frequent use of the dishwasher destroys the protective layer of cast iron - use this option in extreme cases.

Heat treatment

The oven will turn the rusty coating into ash. Wash the pan, dry it thoroughly and put it in a cold cupboard. Turn on the self-cleaning mode or set it to 150°C.

After 30 minutes, take out the dishes, cool them down and wash them with a sponge and detergent. Old ovens without automatic programs are also suitable - the main thing is not to exceed the temperature.

Radical boiling

Old corrosion is afraid of soda and boiling water. Fill an enamel pan with water three-quarters of the way, add 200 g of baking soda. Immerse the pan and boil for 8-10 hours on minimum heat, adding water as it evaporates.

After the procedure, wipe the surface with a hard brush - the rust will come off in layers.

After any cleaning, heat the cast iron on the stove, grease it with vegetable oil and leave it for 1-2 hours. This will restore the non-stick layer and protect it from further damage.

Follow the instructions and your pan will survive even the most advanced cases of corrosion.
