It is not that difficult to choose good lard in a store or at the market.
You just need to follow a few simple guidelines.
Nutritionist and food technologist Nelly Lvovich spoke with the publication “Lenta.ru” about the rules for choosing and storing lard.

How to buy good lard
As Lvovich explained, preference should be given to lard without preservatives, flavor enhancers, and any other additives whose purpose you do not understand.
Pay attention to the color of the lard: it should be white or pinkish.
Yellowness not caused by seasonings is a sign that the lard is old.
The optimal thickness of a piece is 3-6 cm on a thin skin, the expert added.
Lard should be stored in the refrigerator or freezer.
A piece of lard wrapped in foil can be stored in the refrigerator for two to three months.
In the freezer, lard can be stored for 3 to 6 months without losing its flavor.
People who do not experience intense physical activity should not consume lard on a daily basis.
Especially for those who have problems with the gastrointestinal tract or have recently suffered a heart attack or stroke.
