The paper tag on a tea bag seems like a useless detail - but only to those who don't know its secrets.
Manufacturers don't sew it on for the logo: this little label can turn an ordinary tea party into a perfect ritual. And now you'll find out how.
The first use is obvious, but often forgotten: the tag helps control the strength of the tea.
If you like your drink stronger, place the tea bag in your cup, secure the tag to the edge, and pull the string lightly. This will lift the tea bag higher, but not pull it out completely - this way the tea will brew evenly, and the leaves will not "squeeze" the flavor.
For a weak brew, on the contrary, lower the bag deeper, wrapping the tag around the spoon.
