You don't have to knock it down

The expert noted that as the body temperature rises, the body produces substances that help fight infection.

At 38.5, interferons are produced, so if the child reacts normally to such an increase, then up to 38.5 - 39, it is not necessary to bring it down.

When to knock down

But everything is individual. Often, an increase in body temperature is accompanied by a severe headache, body aches, and then the child needs to be given an antipyretic.

In addition, in children with chronic diseases and infants under 3 months, the temperature is reduced to 38 degrees.

The same applies to cases of seizures occurring during acute respiratory viral infections.

But in these cases it is better to consult a doctor.

Antipyretics are required if the temperature is above 39 degrees and if there is a risk of rising to 40 or higher.

Is it possible to wrap up a child?

The habit of dressing warmly or wrapping your baby in blankets can lead to rapid overheating.

It is necessary not only to take off warm clothes, but also to maintain the air temperature in the room no higher than +21 degrees Celsius. You can even open the window.

In addition, you need to drink more fluids, since drinking plenty of fluids increases the effectiveness of antipyretic drugs.

In case of loss of consciousness, convulsions, signs of dehydration, difficulty breathing, rash, severe headache that does not respond to medication, vomiting, severe abdominal pain and no result even after taking antipyretics, you need to call an ambulance.

The same applies to children under 3 months of age.
