How to Prepare for Lent
As Solomatina explained, any fast is stressful for the body, and some people are contraindicated to fast.
According to the nutritionist, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with health problems, and travelers should not fast.
Some time before the fast, you should begin to limit yourself in animal products and include lean foods in your diet.
Replace fatty meat with chicken or fish. And after a while, with plant-based proteins, the expert advised.
If you usually eat few vegetables, fruits and cereals, you need to increase their consumption in advance.
Adding large amounts of fiber abruptly, Solomatina explained, can lead to digestive problems such as bloating and flatulence.
It is also necessary to return to your usual diet gradually after completing the fast.
You can’t immediately gorge yourself on fast food or other products that were banned, the doctor warned.
